Leonard Morris

AI Workflow Designer (SketchUp & Construction Automation)

Location: Open to international remote candidates able to work with significant overlap in Eastern Time business hours.

Turn Blueprints Into Buildable Luxury

Leonard Morris is a luxury residential production and logistics platform supporting high-end new construction and major renovation projects from blueprint through final installation. The company coordinates cabinetry, millwork, stairs, metalwork, floors, doors, and mouldings, acting as the production partner behind designers and builders.

Leonard Morris is hiring an AI Workflow Designer to build a working pipeline that converts residential home plans in PDF format into navigable 3D SketchUp models. This is not a traditional CAD drafting role. It is a creative, experimental, AI-driven role for someone who can test tools, build workflows, improve outputs, and keep iterating as the technology changes.

The first major goal is simple: PDF in, SketchUp model out. The right candidate will use AI tools, floor-plan parsing services, SketchUp workflows, scripts, and practical problem-solving to reduce a process that currently takes days into something much faster and more scalable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and improve an AI-powered workflow that converts residential construction PDFs into usable SketchUp models.
  • Use tools such as vision LLMs, floor-plan parsing services, AI-assisted coding, SketchUp Ruby, no-code automation, and manual fallback steps where needed.
  • Run real residential plan sets through the workflow and improve the process wherever it breaks.
  • Test different AI models, tools, and workflows to find what produces the best usable output.
  • Create models the design team can actually use, not just technically correct experiments.
  • Track what improves, what fails, and what needs to change next.
  • Participate in a daily 10:00 AM ET standup with clear updates on what shipped, what is next, and what is blocking progress.
  • After the first workflow is successful, help build future integrations for commercial prints, cabinetry generation, lighting plans, and other home features.

Qualifications

  • Experience reading residential construction documents, including plans, elevations, and sections.
  • Strong SketchUp experience, including building residential models; familiarity with the SketchUp API or Ruby extensions is a plus.
  • Experience building and shipping at least one AI-powered workflow that real people use.
  • Comfortable using current AI tools such as Claude, GPT-4V/GPT-vision tools, Gemini, Cursor, Copilot, Claude Code, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with floor-plan parsing tools such as CubiCasa, MagicPlan, or similar services.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Self-directed, creative, flexible, and comfortable adapting to evolving workflows and project priorities
  • Background in architecture, construction, cabinetry, building products, drafting automation, or AI workflow orchestration is strongly preferred.

Pay and Benefits

  • This is a full-time remote independent contractor role (non-W-2)
  • Pay: $12-$25 USD per hour, based on demonstrated SketchUp proficiency, AI workflow experience, and construction-document interpretation skills.
  • The role includes daily business-day communication, high ownership, direct collaboration with leadership, and room to grow as the automation pipeline expands.

Why Leonard Morris

Leonard Morris is building the production infrastructure behind luxury residential construction, and this role sits directly at the center of that transformation. You will not be handed a fixed spec and asked to follow it quietly; you will be trusted to experiment, test, solve, and ship. The company values builders, operators, and creative problem-solvers who can turn messy real-world data into workflows that work. If you are energized by AI, residential construction, SketchUp, and the challenge of turning blueprints into usable 3D models, this is a rare opportunity to build something that can change how luxury homes move from drawings to reality.

Leonard Morris encourages applications from qualified candidates of all backgrounds and experiences.
